Electric Power
Sun Aug 26, 2018 12:16 pm
Electric means producing electricity while power is defined as the rate of energy being transfer, meaning electric power also known as electric transfer.
The unit of electric power is the watt (W), it is named after James Watt ( 1736-1819).
Remember that 1 coulomb per second is an ampere. Therefore, power in watts equals the product of volts times amperes.
We should remember that power is the time rate of doing work, whereas work is power used during a period of time.
The SI unit forPower is watt (W) while in Work is joule (J). The joule is a basic practical unit of work or energy. The SI unit for energy is E.
With the watt unit of power , one watt used during one second equals the work of one joule, or one watt is one joule per second.
Example :
What is power consumption in watts when the current is 3A and the voltage supply is 15V? The solution is :
The unit of electric power is the watt (W), it is named after James Watt ( 1736-1819).
Power in watts = volts x amperes
Remember that 1 coulomb per second is an ampere. Therefore, power in watts equals the product of volts times amperes.
We should remember that power is the time rate of doing work, whereas work is power used during a period of time.
The SI unit forPower is watt (W) while in Work is joule (J). The joule is a basic practical unit of work or energy. The SI unit for energy is E.
Formulas:
Power = Work ÷ Time
Work = power x time
Work = power x time
With the watt unit of power , one watt used during one second equals the work of one joule, or one watt is one joule per second.
1 joule = 1 watt . second
1 watt = 1 joule / second
In terms of charge and current,
1 joule = 1 volt . coulomb
1 watt = 1 volt . ampere
Remember that the ampere unit includes time in the denominator, since the formula is 1 ampere = 1 coulomb / second.1 watt = 1 joule / second
In terms of charge and current,
1 joule = 1 volt . coulomb
1 watt = 1 volt . ampere
Example :
What is power consumption in watts when the current is 3A and the voltage supply is 15V? The solution is :
P = V x I
so watts are equal to volts times ampere,
W = V x A
Then ,
W = 15V x 3A
W = 45W
so watts are equal to volts times ampere,
W = V x A
Then ,
W = 15V x 3A
W = 45W

Yes, our brain dispatches millions of electrical signals along the nerves in our central nervous system, these nerves connect with your muscles and provide the power to complete an action or movement and these electrical signals enable us to brush your teeth, eat a meal and run off extra calories.

Wow , thanks for the info , I have another question , what are some power sources other than electricity?

Solar power comes from the sun's energy. Photovoltaic cells harness sunlight or energy to produce power for businesses and homes. A wind turbine harnesses energy from the wind to provide power. Underground thermal heat energy creates geothermal energy. Biomass fuels produce steam or other liquids or gases for power. Biomass energy is harnessed from organic matter such as wood, animal waste, plants and crops.

Now I know that there's a lot of power sources other than electricity, thank you for your answers admin

Electric current is the actual rate of flow of electrons past a given point, in a unit of time while power, measured in watts, is the amount of work electricity can do in a circuit, watts are calculated by the voltage times amps in a circuit.

It has now become a part of our daily life and one cannot think of a world without electricity. Electricity is now an important part of homes & industries. Almost whole the devices at homes, businesses and industries are running because of electricity.

Because electricity moves quickly through water and the human body is 70 percent water and if the electricity is strong enough, it can cause the victim's muscles to tighten up so much he or she can't let go. Anyone who touches someone who is being electrocuted can become part of the circuit as well.

The reason why it is important to be energy-conscious and make every effort to conserve our electricity is that conservation can save money. Fossil fuels are not a clean source of energy either. Conservation of electrical energy can help to lessen pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

William Gilbert is credited as one of the originators of the term "electricity" and also remembered largely for his book De Magnete (1600). He is regarded by some as the father of electrical engineering or electricity and magnetism. But, Michale Faraday was also one one the great contributors in field of electricity.

Well, why not conduct an experiment and try to touch an open wire with an electricity flowing through it. Then Tell us if you're still Alive.

Resistance grounding system means connecting the neutral point of the load to the ground to carry the residual current in case of unbalanced conditions through the neutral to the ground whereas resistance earthing system is done in an electric equipment in order to protect he equipment in occurrence of fault in the system.
